MY TRAVEL

Last summer I went to England. I've been in Torquay for two weeks. I visited the nearest villages and I made many friends. I went to English classes in other village near to Torquay. I went out with the Spanish friends every night. My hostfamily was very kind. I came back on the 29th of August. The travel was fantastic!

HALLOWEEN

Halloween started as an ancient Celtic festival and was later celebrated in Christian times as the night before All Saints Day. In fact, the name "Hallowe'en" comes from Old English: "hallow" (holy or scared) and "een" (eve or evening).

In England and America a lot of children have Halloween parties on the 31st of October. They make big lanterns with pumpkis and candles to frighten their friends and neighbours.
The chidren wear witches costumes and pay "Trick or Treat" with their neighbours too. Some children get very frightened because they think witches and ghosts are going to come out at night.
There are many words relacionated with Halloween, like:

WITCH


The carved pumpkin has become the symbol of Halloween. It's called "Jack-o-lantern", from an Irish legend about a man called Jack. He was a lazy farmer, who tricked the devil and refused to free him unless he agreed to never let Jack go into hell. So, Jack started to wander the Earth looking for a resting place, carrying a carved turnip with a Candle inside.

THE SOLOIST

Today, I'm going to talk about the film: "The Soloist", the film that I saw this weekend.

The soloist is a film about a newspaper's reporter (Steve López) that searches a good new for his column, he found a musician (Nathaniel Ayers). Nathaniel was a prodigy with the cello, but he has mental problems and for that he lived in the street and he only has a violin. Steve tries help him and they become friends.

In my opinion this is a beautiful film that talks about the people with problems, like schizophrenia, with these types of problem it's good have friends, because you raise your problem.

BOB MARLEY

Bob Marley was a famous singer and their songs are listening at the moment. Bob was born the 6 of february 1945 in Nine Mile in the north of Jamaica. He was born in a black and poor family. Her mother was a black woman her name was Cedella Booker and his father was a white old man his name was Norval Marley. 

Bob was a Rastafari, Rastafari is taken from Ras Tafari, the title and the first name of Haile Selassie. Bob began with the Rastafari when Haile Selassie visited Jamaica.

Bob was famous before he died of cancer at age 36 in Miami with albums like his first big hit: Legend.

THE MUSIC

Today, I'm going to talk about music. The music is a very important thing for me. I  listen a lot of types of music, but my favourites types are pop and classical. I hate the rap. I listen music when I do my homework, when I travel, when I go out with my friends,... and I play an instrument, too, I play the violin. I began when I was 7 years old. I play the violin once a week in the Nava's musical school. My favourites singer are Amaia Montero and Dani Martin and my favourites groups are" La Oreja de Van Gogh", "El Sueño de Morfeo" and "El Canto del Loco". When I am in my room I listen the radio ("los 40 principales" and "Cadena 100") and I have a lot of music in my mobile phone and in my MP3 player.

SUMMER 2013

My name is Silvia and I have done this blog for writing the things about English lessons, but first I'm going to talk about this summer. This summer I have done a lot of travels: I went to Peñaranda de Bracamonte (Salamanca) to a camp, then I went to Cantabria with my family, After I went to Cuerda del Pozo (Soria) where I practised nautical activities and at the end, I went to England (Torbay) and I was living with a English family.
